SEGi & FIRMUS Join Forces To Produce Industry Talents

Malaysia’s largest higher education provider, SEGi University & Colleges and leading cybersecurity solution provider, Firmus Sdn Bhd, recently sealed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), to pave the way for the collaboration of producing graduates to meet the increasing demand of the cybersecurity industry.

Datuk Alan See, co-founder and CEO of FIRMUS Group, said “Industry and academia collaboration is vital to ensure there is a wide pool of talent in the industry ecosystem; especially so, in this specialized sector of Cybersecurity. Mr. Edward Low, the Director of Outreach and Partnership, SEGi University and Colleges also added “SEGi’s collaboration focus with each of our industry partners, is to bring the industry into the classroom. Through this partnership, students from our Information Technology Faculty will get the opportunity to work on real-life projects with FIRMUS, solve real-world problems and immerse in real-time developments of the industry. Hence, this partnership with FIRMUS is vital to incorporate FIRMUS’ experiences and expertise into our curriculum. We hope this collaboration will create more job opportunities for SEGi students to work in the Cybersecurity Industry.”

In this collaboration, FIRMUS will work with SEGi’s Faculty of Information Technology to train the students with a well-developed training programme based on the latest cybersecurity trends. At the same time, it helps the students gain current and dynamic awareness of cyber threats that endanger organisations’ assets, networks, and data. It will help students transition into the industry as seamlessly as possible.

FIRMUS will also co-organise and sponsor events, competitions, and workshops with SEGi, and participate in SEGi’s Live Talk with students. On top of that, it will also co-produce certificates or digital badges for students once they complete the subject
